Faculty of Language and Communication Open Night: “Talents to Show, Movies to Watch”

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Language and Communication Association (PERBAKOM) organize an Open Night on the 17th May 2023 at the SPACE, Faculty of Language and Communication Lounge as one of the activities held for the FLC Open day.
The FLC Open Night is being supervised by Miss Nurul Huzaimah Hussien, FLC language teacher and it was handled by the PERBAKOM students. With the theme of slumber party, the FLC lounge is being filled by people from inside and outside of the faculty wearing their sleepwear to join and participate in the activities.
The first agenda of this open night is Open Mic, where students are given the opportunity to showcase their talents in singing, public speaking, beat boxing and many more. The Open Mic is being started with an opening performance of an aero dance by The Black and Whites dance group.
Contestants who showcased their talents during the Open night were judged by three judges; Alezxandria Kapple Strategic Communication Year 2 student, Miss Mellisa Malini a language teacher from FLC, and Donnatus Joachim David, a Year 2 Music programme student from Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA). The open night ended with a movie night with the theme, “Going back to the 2000s”.
Nur Atiqah Quratulaini Mazlan, 23, said it was interesting that these activities are being held and she really enjoyed her nights watching movies with friends despite the tiredness that she felt.
“Besides promoting the faculty, the main objectives of this activity is said to give students a casual night to enjoy themselves after handling the FLC Open Day and the reason it was approved is that so we could run from the formality, protocol and rules, and it also promoting the faculty as being open,” said Vivynna Bunsi Anak Jimmy Chabu, the PERBAKOM secretary.
Vivynna added, “this kind of activity will definitely be held again in the future and people can go to our social media to find out more about future activities and can also take part in deciding the theme.”
